Davidoff Cigars

High quality cigars don't always come from Cuba or the Cuban tobacco monopoly. Many famous makers of other brands remain healthy and give consumers more choices for cigars and more competition in terms of quality, taste and price. One example of high quality cigars come from Davidoff Cigars.

In fact, Davidoff cigars are known to the one of the more prominent brand of cigars. They have become one of the few manufacturers of cigars that strive to be the best.

Davidoff started with no Cuban cigar manufacturers to handle their supply of tobacco products. Eventually Cubatabaco offered to help Davidoff with the production of cigars. Davidoff could not resist considering Cubatabaco produces some of the most popular cigars in the world. They had recently built El Laguito, the factory that manufactures Cohiba, Fidel Castro's favorite cigar. Some of the popular types of cigars Davidoff produces are The Ambassadrice, Dom Perignon, and the discounted line of Chateaux.

With the success of the two cigar manufactures coming together, both Cubatabaco and Davidoff were enjoying the following years. But soon thereafter, a rival of Davidoff was approached by Cubatabaco. Alfred Dunhill Ltd. was sought after by Cubatabaco to manufacture cigars and it made Davidoff question the decision to go into business with them.

Repeated disputes over ownership rights to the brand name and arguing over the quality (which had diminished when the tradesmen fled Cuba) convinced Davidoff to halt business relations with Cubatabaco. Zino Davidoff burned around 100 sticks of tobacco from Cuba stating it was not fit for the Davidoff brand.

Under the direction of Heinrich Kelner, Davidoff Cigars finally sees success. Their cigar products are made in Honduras and the Dominican Republic. Although they have changed in both location of the factories and in the leader, the cigars still slightly resembles the Cohiba, but with a lighter wrapper.
